37" fit plasma in a car?

We want to pick up a 37px80 panasonic plasma, we have a decent size car, but do you think we would need a small van as you have to stand tv upright.I reckon it would be close to whether it fits or not, anbody picked one up before of that size, dont want to turn up and it not fit by couple inches, thanks

I picked my 42" plasma up in a Ford Focus. Had to take it out of the box and stand it across the rear seats. The doors only just shut! Had my 50" plasma delivered!

I drove home a 42" Palsma in my Mazda 6, I had to lye it down, but it was only for 5mins.
how far away do you live from the store?

might fit if you have a big car and can put the back seats down. You dont have to have it standing up, as they have a lot of packaging holding the tv in place. The boxes are usually huge though.

so lying them down is it just for long journeys, they wanted 20 quid delivery anyway so i would rather fetch it, oh she paid them as well will it be easy to get money back in cash as thats how she paid

Thought you had to keep plasmas upright?

I wouldnt have thought you would get it in a astra standing up.

If you take it out of the box it will be fine, i wouldn't risk laying it down

    Box size taken from avforum

    37PX80: The box dimensions are 41in X 29in X 13in (W 105 x D 35 x H 75 in cms)

God i want one of these tv's, not allowed one unless i find it for £450

cheers buddy thats a big help

we got a 40" plasma upright on the backseat of our zafira.......doubt you will have a problem x

Plasmas should be upright at all times. You may lose your warranty if this isn't the case. I wouldn't take any chances. We had our 46" Panny delivered. Free off charge I hasten to add. Are you not able to haggle for this???

I'm not too sure if the "not laying them down" thing is a myth or not.. most have to be laid down to get the stand off..that was certainly the case with my LCD Samsung.. but maybe you're right about Plasmas

I hope they didn't sell her one of their Monster HDMI cables. I was in Comet last week and a poor couple were just after spending £700 on an LCD TV, when "salesperson of the year" advised that they would need a £60 Monster HDMI cable for it!!! Never heard so much rubbish in all my life.

Don't lie it down, the jobsworth from Comet that tried to help my sister load a plasma into her car told her that he'd have to state on the record that it was laid down and it would invalidate the warranty. She then had it delivered!

Have you seen this deal - not sure if this is the PX70 or PX80 you could always email to find out

Laying them down doesn't effect the 'plasma' or the tubes of gas....... :whistling: or anything like that, you shouldn't transport them flat because they might break, the same reason when you see glaziers they have the glass on the side of the van, much safer
