just to advise although the warrenty always says 12months - european legislation states that you get 2 year warrenty as standard, companies never advertise this, and when you go to the shop and buy extended warrenty for 3 years (for example) really all you are getting is 1 year.

Is this true? Never heard this before. How does this work is practice, and is it just for certain types of goods?

Its actually 6 years here in the UK, the EU legislation you are mentioning has no jurisdiction over here. But it's not a 6 year warranty anyway, its merely the timeframe for a consumer to PROVE that a fault/defect existed at the time of purchase/delivery. (Good luck with that :w00t:)

I found this thread on another forum a good read and helps make things a little clearer.

Have a look at johnlewis as they come with 5 year warrenty. (remember vouchers and quidco)

I bought my 37" Hannspree from teleland.co.uk for £450 & that came with a 5 year warranty

I bought my 37" Hannspree from Bt Shop it cost me £359 so bargain, maybe see if you can up your warrenty on that!
