•What are we doing to our planet!

•Do you feel ashamed?

•Should company's take more responsibility to ensure packaging is kept to a minimum, and as recyclable as is possible to prevent this?

•Or should they be fined in circumstances like this for pollution!, I am sure their are some big brands names printed on that rubbish or least they could do is all volunteer some funds towards a clean up operation.

At least that crab won't get so many wrinkles.

In places like japan people are paid to recycle, shops have machines similar to our coin counters in supermarkets, that take bottles and pay out vouchers for them. Why are people not offered incentives here?

Years ago the milkman took bottles to be washed and reused, now the glass is smashed and reforged why? Doesn't it take more power to smash, melt and reform then to simply wash out for reusing.

Only those that dump their rubbish in inappropriate places should be ashamed.

Yes the UK itself has a small but significant problem but when you compare this to third world countries that have zero concern or understanding of global warming who will quite easily dump their human faeces, nappies and other rubbish without fear of retribution from neighbours, family, friends or authority onto beaches or river systems or similar then you'll know that the UK, in the majority, should be proud of what we've done and what we've achieved.

If you look at the USA with their gas guzzling motors where some encourage the black smoke brigade known as "rolling coal" and also some of the poorer areas - it's not the facilities/management that's the problem it's the type of human being. China...enough said. South Americas, the majority of Asia << they are all much bigger than the UK and need to take bigger responsibility

I'm glad I didn't have to count up to 38 million.

Perhaps this is the missing wreckage of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

Perhaps this is the missing wreckage of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

I bought a Malaysia Airlines phone last week, I put it into flight mode and it disappeared.

The key to this is "uninhabited island"

So it's an ideal place for all this plastic, if I ever get washed up upon it, I'll have a load of makeshift lego to play with.

You could have done it in 30 seconds using integers and algebraic formulae.

Counting 38 million pieces of plastic may take slightly longer than that.

Reliant Robin.

Which reminds me - how's your car going

Depends on how did the counting a mathematician or a Labour Front bencher.

How or who?

If how, deeky has an approach that he sounds confident will take 30 seconds.
If who, then we can ask deeky.

Give him half a minute...

^ PS. deeky: A link with a query string parameter.

I used to have a Scooby. One of the best cars I've ever owned.

Didn't want to get rid of it, but I was in a multi-vehicle pile-up (me second in a queue of four; the first three of us stopped, the back of the four of us didn't & shunted us all together), & it was never the same again as the boot lid didn't fit properly after it was "fixed".

Could have been worse, you're lucky it was only the back of the four of you that failed to stop.

It wasn't one of the super fast Scoobies was it? I'm struggling to visualise you as a boy racer X)

After seeing the carnage across the carriageway from the fourth vehicle shunting the rest of us, I expect everybody else stopped in time to avoid another collision!

Not 38 million pieces of metal, but it looked like it!

Those Scoobies are all noise and no power!

It is the power-to-weight ratio that counts.

My Subaru's 1944cc engine could certainly beat the 5.3L V8, 5.8L V8, & 6.1L V8 vehicles I owned around the same time.

Explain the accident in your own words:

My engine is smaller than that and can beat a golf gti easy

If the crabs are using it as a home can we count it towards or council recycling quota??? we are a few items down this month and 38 million recycled items would sort that right out.

Which revision of the GTI? The most recent heavier-than-an-elephant version?

Either way, have you ever owned/driven an Impreza, an 'Evo', or a similar Japanese All-Wheel-Drive car?

Only a few years ago Tesco were 'paying' you clubcard points for recycling and not using carrier bags
I remember things like Grolsch bottles could be returned as well

Now we have things like the utterly pointless plastic token voting in Tesco/Waitrose
should be banned
