3rd year car service...major or minor?

all depends how well the cars been maintained..whether it's been thrashed etc..but they may have set proceedures...ask them for a break down of what there doing to it.

its been well looked after and only has 12300 miles on

i wouldn't of thought it would need anything major but i guess ford probably charge £40-£50 per hour labour then there's the parts etc...i would definitely ask them for list with whats being done and the parts cost etc.

my advice because of the mileage would be go for a minor service which will be a oil & filter change, tyre pressures & fluid levels check, the mot will cover your lights, suspension check & brake efficiency check plus all the other checks the mot takes into account.

im going to take the service handbook in and show them and see whats said. if its definetly due the major then fair enough but if the handbook is right and its only due a minor then i dont want to be getting ripped off

Remember you don't have to get it serviced at a dealer, as long as the other garage uses equivalent parts. It always works out cheaper.

Yep, i just got my major service and MOT done at an independent Vauxhall garage cost me £155 , VX wanted £280 !

has it ever had a major? certainly wouldnt need two of them in 12000 miles!

cars gone in and asked them about it all. turns out theres a printing error in the service manual so the third year is a major. also last year they printed out the wrong sheet so it said major instead of interim, so its deffo getting a major and will be its first
