    £400 Laptop

    Hi,

I family member wants to buy a laptop, and their budget is £400.

We're thinking of this Acer from Tesco, unless anyone knows any better?

    direct.tesco.com/q/R…spx

Things that appeal about that Acer are:
    - wifi
    - harddrive (80GB)
    - okayish RAM (512MB) - although could be better?

If anyone has any better suggestions I'd be grateful if you could let me know.

    Thanks in advance.

The laptop is definitely acceptable for the price of £400 but I reckon you could get a slightly better deal if you scout around some of the deals on here.

The processor is a celeron mobile, not centrino, dual core or core 2 duo - so it's quite an old processor.

I have just purchased an ACER 3692WLMI from Comet for £395 plus delivery. It has 1mg ram and 60gb memory. It does have a Intel Celeron but the 1mg ram compensate for that a little bit and it also depends on what you want to use it for. Bought it for my son for games internet etc.:-D

If it was me I'd be advising to wait until after Christmas...try and get another £100 and buy a Vista loaded dual core laptop...it'll be worth the wait.
