According to the tesco mobile website, you need to make a call in order to activate your sim, which would mean you need to topup.

This is quite an old one but it used to be £4 so heat added.

The SIM comes with £1 credit on it already. Stick it in an UNLOCKED phone and just call your house number/mate/whatever and get them to pick up.

Takes about 3-4 months but it does pay out and it's free! Tesco have pretty good PAYG rates anyway

Just order free sim cards from O2, T mobile and Orange via Quidco and get cashback WITHOUT activating the cards.
