Hi there,

We have the 42" samsung which is a fantastic TV and some friends of ours have the 50" version, also a fantastic TV.

Would highly recommend the 50", looks great and the picture quality is amazing.

The best plasma TV`s are Panasonic.Price may be higher, but it is worth it.Picture quality is A LOT better than Samsung or Sony.
As for Samsung-only good if it is LCD,but not plasma.
Talking about plasma tv,i would not recomend it:
1.Consumes more electricity
2.Life span shorter a lot than LCD
3.Old technology
4.Develops dead pixels after few years of usage

The 0950 post is simply incorrect. Nearly all reviewers agree that the Pioneer plasmas are far and away the best plasmas. However, you pay a substantial premium on them. Of the points in the post, only 1. and 4. are strictly true (and 4. applies to LCD). Point 2. is unproven - especially with the newer plasmas. LCD is also old technology - anyone remember calculators in the late 1980s and their LCD screens?

Most people who consider the Samsung Q97 (including me!) also consider the Panasonic PX70 as it's slightly more expensive and in theory has the same specifications. The Pioneer PDP-LX5080D is supposed to be better than both (deeper blacks and better image processing) but is a lot more expensive (almost double). What HIFI did a review of the Samsung and the Pioneer in July 2007 and the Samsung came out marginally ahead. Best thing - see both screens and decide for yourself.
