50" Plasma - Help Required.....

Hi all,

Just trawling through the deals section as I'm on the hunt for a 50" 1080p plasma (why cant you search for 50" in the HUKD search ?)

I have a 50" Sagem DLP TV at the min, but want one to go on the wall now. Excellent TV by the way, HD broadcasts are awesome on it (720), and it has been perfect with every 360 game thrown at it (had that 5 years now !).

I dont want any of this Freeview/Freesat or Freeview/Freesat HD built in (not bothered if it is, but it will never get used), as I have a DM800 & access to hundreds of HD channels already.

TV will be used for both SD & HD viewing.

I've also got a Revo with a fair whack of 1080p content, so I want a FULL HD TV.

Also assuming Plasma's will be cheaper than anything else of this size, and I will be using it for gaming too (360), so dont want any blur.

Anything the "experts" out there recommend ?

Thanks

You won't go wrong with the Panasonic TX-P50G20B.

I thought the general consensus was, other than the now no longer manufactured Pioneer Kuro, the best Plasma are the Panasonics, full stop. No other consumer brand can rival it.

Not cheap but as they say, you get what you pay for.

 gr8 tv

My impression is alot of retailers got a lot of TVs in for the World Cup, they are hoping more will shift during the rest of June/early July, I imagine early July to mid/late July will be a good time to keep a very keen eye out as retailers return to normal stock levels.

The next best time to buy being just after new years for similar reasons over Christmas.

I have a pioneer krp 500a and yes they are top draw .. I still run my pioneer 434hde no hd etc with my 360/ps3 etc and its brilliant for gaming , but as stated have a look at a Panasonic as the build quality etc is in my opinion almost as good as the pioneer range is/was ... but best off getting a decent magazine with some reviews etc and get something right for you

Panasonic nicked alot of the Pioneer plasma techs as I understand it.

avforums seems like a good place to start.

I was having a read over on AV last night, in no real rush either so I'll wait for the right offer/time before wading in.

Cheers chaps, if you see anything in the meantime time, post her up

I rang up they reserved for me and they delivered it for me too for no extra cost

Could have had that for £500 a few months back from Bennetts, but they messed me around so much I ended up cancelling my order (plus the reviews were not the best at the time). There is a thread on here somewhere about it.

Thanks anyway

i have this one and its a great tv !!!!!!!!

I may have to constrict the budget now I'm having to buy one sooner rather than later.

What is the LG 50PK350 like ? I reckon £600 is my max at the min .....

Barclays Platinum/Natwest Platinum/RBS Platinum all have 15month 0% offers at the moment...

If you want Plasma and want the best, the Panasonic V20 or VT20 are the ones to go for: avforums.com/rev…tml and avforums.com/rev…tml unless of course you can still find a Pioneer Kuro 5090 or KRP500, but they're like rocking horse poo these days.....

If you want something a little cheaper the Panasonic G20's are a good TV: avforums.com/rev…tml (review for the 42, they haven't reviewed the 50 yet) .......

EDIT: just seen "£600 is my max at the min" you'll not get a good 50" plasma for that (or even a middle of the road), have you thought about dropping down to a 42 maybe?

That LG model I posted above had good reviews on avforums. £600 or £660 with a 5 year warranty....

Don't want to downgrade my screen size, so used to my 50 incher now
