    72mm polarising filter needed

I need a 72mm polarising filter for my new Nikon lens. Doesn't have to be top end (B+W, Heliopan), but also I'd rather avoid some generic ones. The best at the moment is around £20 on eBay, but surely there must be something cheaper.

Good rep waiting for good help.

    Hi!

I'm afraid it doesn't get much better than e-bay prices - but for ~£20 you can get a really good super multicoated filter off ebay, whereas in most stores you couldn't even buy the most basic of 72mm polarizers. I've scoured many an online store looking for good filter deals, and failed to find anything even approaching a bargain.

The seller beateastern I(]) on ebay.com is really good! I just got a 52mm Kenko (Kenko=Hoya, btw) digital, low profile, multi coated polarizing filter for the price that you would buy a single-coated off-brand one in most stores. People on the dpreview.com forums seem to reccommend this seller as well, and their feedback is immaculate. I wouldn't worry about impiort tax on such a small/inconspicuous item, and delivery is from Hong Kong anyways, so it doesn't mattert that it's ebay.com, not .co.uk. I know it sounds dodgy, but the filters are original and the prices are hard to beat. Check anywhere else, and you will pay at least double the price.

    Hoya S-HMC circular polarizer ~£37:

    Kenko Pro1 Wide-Band Circular Polarizer ~£28:

    B+W Cir Pol ~£53:

(Kenko is the same company as Hoya; thay have a different name on the Japanese market - they share the same products, but Kenko tends to be a fair bit cheaper. The Pro1 filters are top of the range, meant to be better than the S-HMC series. I've got one and it's top-notch - good coating, feels really well made, has low profile frame for wide angle, but still has a front thread. I'm pretty sure you would be satisfied with the first filter I posted over anything else, because even if you find something cheaper, the drop in quality will be significant)

Otherwise, I hear 7dayshop.com has cheap filters.

(I assumed you were wanting a circular polarizer; for a digital camera...)
