75” TV

Hi, I’m looking to buy a 75” TV, I’m not looking for an oled or any of the really expensive ones, will look up to £900. I’ve been looking at the Samsung and Philips ones below. The ambilight is a cool feature but I’ve never seen it in real life so I’m not sure how good it is. Has anyone got any advice on what to buy id really really appreciate it. I have a blue light card as I work for NHS and my brother is at uni so I could use his student discount if there are any codes to make it cheaper.

Thank you

I like the ambilight too but I think spending that sort of money I'd play safe & get the Samsung I'd consider the Sony too if it's a 8196 model.
Those Philips tv's get such mixed reviews some think there great others wouldn't touch them with a barge pole! Please note the Philips tv in the picture has lowest picture quality rating of there 2019 4k tv's according to Philips own ratings.

Have you considered an LG or hisense 7500?
What size room you putting it in op ?

I’m putting it in my bedroom and I’ve currently got a 55”, do you think I should go for 70” instead?
13'5" x 14'1" (4.1m x 4.3m) (Room size)

I haven’t actually, I don’t know much about TVs to be honest just thought Samsung and Philips were the best brands sorry if that sounds ignorant .

Ah ok - to be honest that room is quite small to accommodate a 75” TV

You might want to measure it up against the wall where you intend to put it to give you an idea of the sheer size of a 75 inch telly.

Then compare it to say a 65” - you could save hundreds by thinking carefully about sizes especially in a smallish room.

I just measured mine and realised it’s only a 50 inch, your 100% right I just measured my fridge and it would be bigger than my fridge . Thank you!

Do you think the 70” Philips ambilight for £679 at AO is a good idea?

Not sure if you was replying to me there and not yourself but personally there’s no way I would put a 70” tv in your size room especially if you are stepping up from a 50” - the size difference is huge!

If I was you I would measure a 65” edge to edge dimension against the wall because I think you’ll find even that is too much.
Does it have to be with richer sounds not much choice for you on there web site
If you look online there's a few sites if you enter the distance you'll be from the tv what is the ideal size for you

No I’m not fussed what website I used, richer sounds does have 6 year warranty which is good though, I’ll give the online tool a go aswell thank you
a 65" is a massive jump from a 50"
You`ll be moving you head all over with anything bigger than that in that bedroom imho

I’ve just figured out to measure a tv you go diagonally, so mine is actually a 55” as previously thought. I took the 70” from the lounge to have a look and it looks good as I sit about 12ft away from it. I found the 70” Philips ambilight 70PUS6724 for £659 delivered on Richersounds with code TV20, do you think that’s a good idea?
Had a quick look online for you strangely there's not much choice under £1000 70 inches+.If you got a 65 inch tv they seem better value.

Join avforums , there is loads of people on there and questions etc, I would buy a 65"
I have a 65" OLED and a 75" Hisense LCD.
The OLED is amazing but I really love the size of the 75.
Do NOT buy a 65 for £600 odd if you can get a 75" That said, it depends on distance from TV and what you watch.
SD TV channels are shocking but HD and 4K look great.
The Hisense was a better bet than the otehrs for me (I paid £770 odd at Costco --deals on here somewhere).
The Philips is a very poor TV bu the Ambilight feature sells it to people. Personally I would avoid it but others say the opposite.

Going by what I've seen people say on this app the operating system for this tv can be sluggish fewer app than other tv's & as I say lowest picture quality of there tv's.I just wouldn't want to spend near £700 on a tv with these questions against it.Under £1000 in this order of: look for Samsung, LG, higher model Philips or higher model hisense.

13ft from the 65 and 14ft from the 75.
Id go 75 on both if I could (and I usually go for image quality as my primary factor hence the oled).
The 75 is very immersive in our playroom. However it would look massive if you were trying to keep your room looking sleek.
Just ensure you can return whatever you choose in case you don't like it.

Thank you for your help, went for the 70” ambilight for £659, mixed bag of reviews but apparently it’s a good tv for Netflix and amazon prime so touchwood I’ll be happy with it! Thank you again

You make a decision much quicker than me. It takes me weeks. Enjoy. 70 is probably a good choice size wise
