 am I missing the point?

I know where I'm going tomorrow lol.

Well that's if they're open on Sundays :-D

can't believe there is only ONE Cex is the whole of Scotland, and it's not even near me :x

buy it keep the game sell the wii fit and make a £4 profit plus the game or sell the game to them too for £8 or use it for trade in for other stuff at cex

Better buying a Wii Fit from Amazon (or wherever has in stock @ RRP) and do it that way..

Great deal if you can get any cash out of CEX. You'll probably end up with a trade in voucher.

The point could be that you can possible buy this from argos, take it over £100 to get £10 back making it £90.

Take it to CEX, get £94 for it (if true)

Make £4, get a free game and what ever you made it to make it over £100 free.

Anytime I have been in CEX recently they won't give cash for anything, only exchange, just in case anyone is risking doing this.

Cheers, Des.

I suppose I am lucky, I live near city centre Manchester, and they always call between stores =D

I wonder if Gamestation would match their trade in price?

ive had the same problem with cex as well for the past 2-3 weeks now

yes gamestation do

Although Gamestation price match trade in prices, I doubt they would for this as currently they give £30 cash and £45 exchange. Seems too much of a difference.

Yes they do, and beat it by a pound.....

I got them to give me £145 exchange for a DS Lite last crimbo via price matching CEX

Last time I went to trade a game in, saw a printout on the counter "We do not give cash for the time being"

Too right! I would say MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, they say they do not have any cash today and only offer exchange. This has increased a lot over this year. This is not some tiny store Im on about, but the London and surrounding area shops.

Anyone who is planning to do this needs to be prepared for a store saying they have no cash.

SELLER BEWARE!

Must be different stores then. My store refused to beat a CeX price of £3 for a PS2 game because they only sell them for £3

Wow Wish They Had One Up Here In Aberdeen

Managed to get Wii Fit from comet using the browser trick (£69 delivered).

Saw a few articles and blogs online saying that they are struggling financially and so are not giving cash for a while to try and regulate cash flow. Also read that staff wages were paid late on two occassions and that cheques had been bouncing.

I have no experience of them myself, however, but would be very cautious about the deal.:?

Also worth noting the store prices may differ (although they shouldn't) as the Uxbridge store was offering £84 cash yesterday despite the website saying £94.

My local Gamestation will price match CEX but won't beat it by £1

The problem is that CEX have a very strange business model. They pay cash for games, dvd etc so they always need a high level of cash flow and then they sell their stock at inflated prices...meaning most of the time they will struggle to shift the stock they buy off people, unless its in exchange, which still means they haventt got cash coming in...just more stock.

Next time you go in just look how much stock they have everywhere! All there cash is tied up in that which is why they havent got any to buy stuff anymore!

Shouldn't the London stores be richer and have more cash on them?
I'm considering buying from some from Zavvi then selling them straight to CEX.....

Read the back of every receipt they give out - they say the need the beat them.. but! This is only on trade-ins, not cash.

I was just in the Huddersfield store and they were only offering £78 cash. Worth trying though as you can always buy it back after christmas and make a profit.

I actually sold a few things today and din't have any problem getting cash. First time I've ever been in though so I have no idea what it's normally like.

hard to get cash as everyone else says!

I'll try a price match on Tuesday (trade obviously) be very happy if it comes off

ummm might sell mine in that case....

Guess you just have to walk in the right times, usually if they are interested in an item, they will say "come back in a few hours, so we can build up on cash" ::thumbsup:

.. but you might be better off selling it on Amazon. I sold my used Wii Fit a while back and got a hundred quid for it, about ninety quid after fees and shipping. And it only cost me seventy five quid in the first place.

Given that many CEXes seem to be offering cash, you'll likely get the exchange value of the product. The problem with CEX is that their second hand stock is all ridiculously overpriced.
Even ignoring for a moment the fact that a lot of new games can be had from Play.com or Amazon or Game for half price, their prices are still insane. And not in a good way.
They sell Saints Row 2, second hand, for the PS3, for thirty five pounds. Second hand! And Fallout 3 is thirty pounds second hand.

my wakefield store never gives cash only exchange

mate just got back Arndale Manchester store, he got £94 cash

Our local Gamestation has been acting dubious lately. A friend tried to trade in Dead Space for the 360, CEX had it for £30 credit. Gamestation said they would normally increase their offer of £12 (far too low) to £30, but they would need to check the CEX website to confirm and they were having network problems, they wouldn't take the printout he had as evidence, and wouldn't even try phoning up the store to ask. It seemed to me that whenever they didn't want to price match they had a guy out the back turn off the router.

not bad, i've used mine twice lol
