A Declined Loan Application: Possible Fraud

Found 14th Oct 2006
I've just opened a letter from the Alliance & Leicester, which was a declined unsecured loan application from my address with a random name (lived at my address for over 10 years).

I've never had this before. I tried ringing them, but offices are now closed until Monday.

Has anyone ever had this? I applied for an Egg card recently and got declined (a few weeks ago) and have a close to perfect credit history.

Could this have anything to do with it?

Any advice please...

Not sure if this would have anything to do with your declined application.

Your best bet would be to get a copy of your own credit report form experian and equifax.

At the moment i believe experian are offering 30 day free trial of their credit reference facilities.

When an application for credit goes through it shows up on your individual credit score, it has nothing to do with the address contrary to peoples beliefs.

May have something to do with someone assosciated with you vis joint accounts if this is applicable to your case.

If you need any other info, let me know. Got quite a decent knowledge of this, currently work as a debt collector, dont all boo & hiss at once. We all have to make a living somehow, and besides i'm office based.

I agree. I have just got a copy of my Equifax report (Yesterday) for free. It took about 30 minutes in total:-

The FREE trial is on the right.

Thanks for the info guys.

Funnily enough, I signed up to Credit Expert UK (Experian) a few days ago and Experian was mentioned on the letter.

I'm more concerned that my address was used in this instance. :x

When you apply for any kind of credit such as HP, Credit Card, Loans etc and it is declined the provider/lender recommends you have a look at your credit report for the possible 'reason' it was declined. The two big credit reference agencies are Experian and Eqifax.
You need to act quickly on this IMO and see what's going on.
