Ye and it should take upto 7 days to cash

you have to pay it into your bank account??? If you are a valued customer of barclays with addtions account they will let you draw about 1000 on an uncleared verified cheque

YES IF you have account in barclay

NO IF your bank is NOT barclay
go to YOUR bank (whatever it is) and tell them to cash it - in your case go to HSBC not Barclay

it will take around 5 days

Oh ok, great help!

normally 3 days, sometimes been 2days for me

If you have a HSBC account, pay it into there it will take 3 clear working days to be available that doesn't include the day you pay it in or weekends. Then you can withdraw of it.

Lesson 1
To turn a Barclays cheque into cash :
1) Place cheque face up on a flat surface. (must be free from ''Greece'')
2) Pull sleeves up to elbow level (Just cough if wearing short sleeves or partly naked)
3) Place both hands flat about 6" aove the cheque.
4) With a circular movement of both hands say out load ..
''a vough a vough, a vough a vough''
This will turn the cheque into paper money.
Go spend & enjoy

Pay the cheque into your bank account. It will take around 3-5 working days for this money to become available, although it will be showing in your account. If you have money in your account that is equal to, or more than, the amount of the cheque (BEFORE paying the cheque in) then you can withdraw this at the same time as paying your cheque in. By doing this you are, in effect, converting the cheque to cash. If you don't , then you'll just have to wait for the cheque to clear before you can withdraw the cash.

it amazes me that people lack the basic literacy of personal finance, no wonder England is borrowed to the hilt on store cards, credit cards and personal loans.
That and the must have today culture :w00t:

The cheque is a barclays cheque, but i want the money to go into my HSBC account? do i still go cash it out at HSBC?

Whenever you recieve *any* cheque (doesn't matter from what bank) simply go into your bank (in your case HSBC) go up to the cashiers and ask if you can cash the cheque. It's that simple

Well said!

you can't do this with all banks they won't just give you 'cash' it has to be paid into a bank account and wait clearance unless as perviously stated you had the same amount of funds available in your bank BEFORE paying in the cheque.
