are you a taxpayer?

If you are put first £3000 savings in the best ISA account.

The Top Payer -5.8% (online). National Savings & Investments (NS&I) Direct ISA, opening balance of £1,000 is required. Rate is guaranteed to be 0.55% above base rate until 5 April 2008.

An opening balance of £1,000 is required,

Also ING direct are currently paying 6% interest on there savings account fixed for 6 months if you dont touch it during that period :-)

my advice is to take a look on www.moneysavingexpert.com and moneyfacts.co.uk/ for advice regarding best isa rates.

i heard alliance-leicester have pretty good saving account interest rates. i might switch over to them soon from ing.

wise to switch from Ing unless you go for the 6% account...otherwise their rates have fallen behind.

of course if you open a current account you can get a whopping 12% on regular savings....they also pay £50 for opening an account.

also they pay £50 for any referral so if you want to open an A&L current account bear me in mind!!! LOL

Ing pay 5.65% for savings account managed online only.
Its only the telephone and internet account that has fell behind at 4.75%.

What is the ING Direct Web Saver ?

Manage your savings online and receive a higher variable rate of interest currently 5.65% AER. This account allows a maximum balance of £250,000

    5.65% is actually a really good rate:thumbsup:

Icesave are safe and pay 5.7% at present.

If you are saving for a mortgage worth finding a good mutual building society - eg Coventry and establishing an account.

Can recommend Icesave if you're after no frills instant access account. Low min of £250.

Internet only and this bit means you're savings will move in line with interest rates for the next few years.

The gross Annual Equivalent Rate of Interest (AER²) paid on all amounts is guaranteed to exceed the Bank of England Base Rate³ by at least 0.25% until 1 October 2009 and thereafter not to be lower than the Bank of England Base Rate until 1 October 2011.
