Wouldn't it be better to call your insurance company and find out?

im doing this online as i am deaf. i cant use the telephone.

Personally I would ask how much difference stating you have an alarm makes. Also most insurance only give a discount if it has a maintenance contract etc. Also some will not be of much help if the alarm was not armed when robbed.

As a result I don't even specify it on my insurance. Made very little difference (£5 cheaper a year) saying I had it than not.

How will you hear the alarm if it goes off then? Joke.

I would e-mail them, because if you get it wrong, they won't pay out, and they won't accept HUKD as a valid reason for wrong info.

Having an alarm can make quite a substantial difference to your home insurance premium if you live in a high risk area. However, most companies will only give a discount for a professionally installed monitored system which inevitably costs more than the insurance premium saving.

The best bet is to follow CyDoNiA's advice and not bother telling the insurer about it.

I work for insurance claims, so take my word...

1. is your alarm monitored by the police or security? If no you can check off NUD monitered alarm
Nacoss monitored alarm
Narcoss monitored alarm

Is your alarm services every year ? and can you prove it.

If no, do not check this, and say you dont have one. trust me, insurers will do anything not to pay out on a claim.

I have an alarm, but I have told my company I dont, as its not serviced or monitored, but it works great, better safe than sorry.
