This laptop tesco.com/dir…180 will be around £206 tonight, does anyone have one and is it any good? I only use my laptop for MS Excel and other things that I use a keyboard for, plus burning CDs, and I prefer a big screen, would this suffice? My Sony Vaio has given up the ghost (I was stupid I know).

If you only use excel, burning cd's and normal browsing then this should be OK. I've had the same Acer Aspire 5315 for 6 years or more (the only upgrades SSD and double RAM to 2gb)

Just like any laptops it depends on who uses them, for what purpose, how often and do they look after the laptop?

What's wrong with your Vaio?

Nothing special about it, what Vaio did you have before it kicked the bucket? As if you can post the model number I can give a rough idea about if it's going to be much of an improvement it would be. The reason I say is that some modern processors are actually slower in like for like tests as ones from about 5 years ago but obviously it is depending on what you used to have beforehand.

It's fine for what you're going to use it for. Just ignore the 7hours battery life, it will never achieve that figure short of turning it on and then turning off the screen and leaving it there doing nothing in the lowest power setting. Even then I'd say it will never manage the claimed battery life.

A few words of warning beyond this is that it's a £200 Acer, the keyboard will be quite poor, the plastics not great and I wouldn't expect it to last more than a couple of years before something breaks to cause you an expensive repair or to have to look for replacements.

Off the top of my head, it was VPCEE2E1E. The screen cracked and now it just won't boot. I didn't really get my money's worth IMO but hey ho, I learned my lesson. My other option is the ASUS Vivobook S200 deal on here, Argos £229 but I have £15 in vouchers. I can get over the screen size, I'm just wondering is it a pain to use an external CD writer with it?
