    Acer Aspire One A110-Ab Netbook..can XP be installed on this?

    See title.
    Thought about getting one but don´t wanna pay 100 pounds more just to get XP with it as I have a spare copy here.

    amazon.co.uk/Ace…8-3

    Thanks in advance

    Best not to install XP on it - this one has an SSD that XP will thrash to death, the "150" model has an internal hard drive instead. You can get a version for around £200 with hard drive + linux (150-Ab) & install XP on that tho.

    The graphics is Intel Mobile 945 Express Family

    I've installed Xp on an Acer One A110 via a USB stick and it works pretty good.
    Only problem you may get is that you need to edit the boot.ini

    If its the first time you are putting XP on an A110, I would checkout some links to guides, like this one: boot-land.net/for…900

    Also found a youtube guide, that did it a similar way to how I did it: uk.youtube.com/wat…llY
    I just deleted both partitions and carried on with the install, so the C drive is named D, then edited the boot.ini to this:
    [boot loader]
    timeout=1
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

    hope it helps

    As long as you disable the pagefile and System Restore I don't think XP will thrash the SSD as badly as one might think. If that was the case all the early EEE adopters (including myself) would be sending units back for repair by the thousands.

    You don't need to, I left system restore on and the pagefile as auto, and still runs sweet

    I would also make sure you disable last access timestamps:

    start->run-> FSUTIL behavior set disablelastaccess 1

    Otherwise the file system updates every file whenever they are accessed.
