Acer Aspire One Netbook - Linux

Guys need to know if Windows XP will work with the Acer Aspire One, I know it will run slow etc but the kids will also use it.

If it will work does anyone know where I can get a cheap disk and a COA License from? Can it be taken from another pc not in use or can i buy a second hand COA license?

    Thanks in advance

I have the same problem and similar laptop (possibly acer aspire one) never used linux before in my life so can't get my head around it... i need to know if i bought an external cd / dvd drive would it work if i plugged it in to linux laptop... mainly because i can then install windows xp on to it as laptop does not have disk drive.

    It will work.

You can use an external optical drive or you can install via a USB flash drive, plenty of tutorials available - Google is your friend.

No idea where you can buy a cheap legit COA though.

Thanks for that abomination, i think i'll use usb flash drive..

gdp-it - hope you get your answers.

It's possible to buy an Aspire one with XP installed - it will cost more than the Linux version thouugh as it requires a bigger hard drive & more RAM.
