Trying to decide which one of these would be best, this Acer play.com/PC/…907, or this dell, hotukdeals.com/ite…94/ would mainly be used with Visual C++9 and using in lectures. Most of the time i would use Visual C++ on my main computer, but I need something small to take into uni and show my tutor the work that I have done... was just wondering what you guys thought would be the best buy?

I already own the Mini9 and its a really good little netbook. But if I had £200+ and wanted to get the most for my cash then I'd go for the Aspire One. Mainly because of the larger hard drive, and it has similar specs to the Mini9.

I have the Dell and I got my brother the Acer aspire one for his Christmas. I did a compare of them both yesterday and prefered the look and feel of the dell. However, I think the Acer will last longer if you are doing lots of travelling with it

thanks for the advice guys, will prob get the acer just for the extra hdd space, means i can put some other programs on it as well. Rep left for you both. Hopefully Amazon will get more stock in of the Acer at £199... hopefully

just for your info, I presume you are after the 120Gb one. I got it from Cdiscount.co.uk for £215 with a free bottle of wine and 3 payments

\Last longer? The damn thing barely lasts 2 hours.

If you've got the money get the Samsung NC10, brilliant laptop and a big battery.

BTW don't pay more than £199.99 for the Acer, play.com seem to have put their prices up. Plus £10 for a 1GB stick of Ramb (get the 512mb version)

I meant for rugged-ness!

Yeah, if you got the money get the best, and that's the Samsung by a good 5 hours!

well the most i can afford is £200, so the NC10 is out unfortunatly, even though it is by far the best. thanks for the advice on buying the extra ram seperate, didnt think about tht. When the item was in stock at Amazon, it did say that they would be getting some more in soon. If not, just have to use the 5% RAC discount at play. thanks again for the advice

If you don't want the 120GB version you can get the 8GB SSD version of the acer aspire one.

£169.99 from comet - buy comet vouchers using your vrgin credit card and get 10% off, so a total of ~£153.

You can the mod it a little to put a HD disk inside it, £40 for a 250GB disk, and do some more mods - if you are going to void the warranty might as well do it in style.

Less than £10 for a 1GB stick, plus about £3/4 for a bluetooth dongle from DX.

I know your only looking between the Acer & Dell Netbook model lines but have you seen the other thread on the go for the ASUS EEE PC 701/8G Windows XP Netbook that's on the go? Its' going for £154.76p from CarphoneWarehouse and I thought I would chuck this in, especially if price is a big issue for your budget (you can get memory from Crucial UK).

Just a thought I would put out there, so please feel free to flame me as I know that (1) its got a smaller screen & (2) its got a Celeron CPU. :whistling:

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Oh ****, that just reminds me - there was a Medion on here the other day 13.3" - not a netbook, but it was £229.99, plus quidco.

Very good price - even though it's not a netbook.
