Don't know about solid typres but I know that if your son skids alot it will wear away the treads and offer little protection. I know this as I took my sons for a new tube and the guy told me there was no point as the tyre was that thin it would just puncture again.

He told me to make sure that if he has to skid to do it on grass, though it will ruin the grass LOL.

you can get the stuff for car tyres so they dont puncture-can this be used?

Tyres are not inflated enough and the tubes are getting caught between the tyre and the wheel.

if you put some vaseline on the INNERTUBE not the tyre, this should help, but really keeping the tyres inflated will be better, but obviously don't over inflate them.

You can get more robust innertubes but they are more competition spec and cost a bit more. ]FOR EXAMPLE

But then for a £5 you cant really complain

I know there are tubeless tyres for mountain bikes but haven't came across any before for BMX bikes. what is the actual wheel size you are looking for?.

thanks for that folks, especially the link, sorted now

    rep added to you all

Make sure that the spoke ends are not puncturing the tubes.

Glad you found a solution, your son would not be happy with solid tyres.
