Advice for lost parcel, Recorded Delivery.

Person A posted £80 to person B on the 28th April via recorded delivery, this never arrived.

Checking the tracking number 14 days later, tells you this:

Item XXXXXXXXXXXXX was posted at XXXXXXXXXXXXX on 28/04/11 and is being progressed through our network for delivery.

Cash is not covered and the maximum value for a claim is £34, what should I do?

Call them to see if they can locate it.

And if they can't there is nothing you can do as cash isn't covered

Dont send cash (_;) oops too late.

wow people still send cash by mail?

Never get why people send cash in the post. What's wrong with Bank transfer? or Paypal gift etc. I would expect this to be stolen.

Thanks for all the replies, I have found a solution on another forum.

Who were you sending cash to,someone trustworthy ?

Did you conceal it etc ?

Are they likely to have received it and just said they haven't...........

Either way now, you're out of pocket.

    A solution? Is there one?

The solution is to lie and say something else other than cash was in the envelope

I think you should call XXXXXXX on the following number: XXXXXXXXX

And tell them XXXXXXX was stolen from one of your parcels.

    Always works for me!

Do you trust the person you sent the money to?. Recorded mail doesnt always show delivered even when it has. The recepient may has noticed this on the tracking and playing on it.

What could you say was in the envelope that is worth £80 (or £34 as that seems to be max compo) as it would have to weigh the same as £80?

Unless he sent it in £1 coins he's screwed

Yes, unfortunately recorded delivery often just ends up in the sack with all the other mail where i work & hardly ever gets signed for. As other people have said you may just be given some stamps as a goodwill gesture as i once was when an item i sent ( valued at £35 ) got lost

oO.......who would dream of sending cash in the post nowadays ?!?!

Looks like op has done one and sticking to his other 'helpful forum' ..X)
