    Advice needed for electric shaver

Thinking of getting an electric razor, not had one for 10 years, so I am sure they are better now than they used to be.
The one I had before used to make my skin a bit rough and sore so gave up in the end.
    Any ideas please?

I've used philips for the last 15 years with no probs
but which ever one you get allow your skin a couple of weeks to get used to the shaver before deciding its making your skin a bit rough

My current one uses Nivea but tbh while if feel good for a few seconds it soon dries out unless you use loads

just been looking up at the price £7 a bottle sounds a bit OTT, but its … just been looking up at the price £7 a bottle sounds a bit OTT, but its something I would use sparingly.

Mine came with little packs of it that lasted 3-4 shaves, i never bought any replacements

I have always used electric shavers, but I prefer the foil type and not the rotary head type.

If you are considering the foil type, then they are now splash proof (even if it says dry use only) and can be used with lubricant and/or water, which is what I do, altho' they will need cleaning out more often..
I usually buy two of the same type, mains rechareable, dual foil, long hair catcher between the foils and a retractable hair trimmer.
I keep one in the car, swapping it for the other, charged, one when necessary.

The biggest running cost is the replacement foils as they are easy to damage.
Last time I bought 2x Braun razors and at first the replacement foils (without a cutter) were about £11 each.
Now the foils on their own are not available and a foil (inc a cutter) is £20 to £25 from eBay (Braun 30B).
They have been very reliable, but I have changed the battries in them (Nicad AA x2) for higher capacity one's when they were not holding their charge as well.

So, now that you know more about my shaving habits than my wife does, to my advice.

If your considering a foil type look at the price of the replacement foils. Thats it!

i had the braun 790cc-3 but i sold it on ebay after a month of having it, did get a smooth finish but brought me out in a rash and was aggony using it on my neck and around the chain. Even tried using it with shaving foam and it didnt work, personally i wouldnt reccommend them as i think there a wash of cash.

    Hi,
I have a bnib PHILIPS NIVEA COOLSKIN HS8420 MENS CORDLESS SHAVER. Unwanted present. I'll deliver for £50 if interested? (I'll open a for sale thread and do it through there...I think that's the correct way)

Thats the problem with shavers, no trial period.
Easy to spend lots on something that does not work for you.
Maybe ask some mates if they have a shaver they dont use anymore, clean/sterilise it well and try it out.

^^ You mean you only found 2 more expensive ones for sale? I am selling for £2 less and £5 less, but this is not good enough for you, or you want more of a discount on the exact same item brand new in box?

Unless yours comes with a warranty that starts on the day bought by OP with receipt to prove, yours isn't the same

I can do for £48 PPG inclusive of postage if you want? Thanks.

I'm using a Philips Shaver that cost £280 & in truth it's no better than the £70 I had before it.Use a 2 blade Bic & you will notice the difference.
