We need to pay off our British Gas bills - we rented a flat for 6 months and rarely used the heating, 3-4 showers a day etc. but we have received a bill for roughly £534!! Also we noticed that it's British Gas 'Business' on the bills, does this make a difference!? Our friends said their bills were roughly £200 for 6 months, something doesnt seem right! Advice please!!!!

It sounds like the business bit is because you have been charged business rates, which i think are very high. Definitely ring them and queerie it. hth

cool, didnt know about that

Business tariffs include VAT at a higher rate I think?

Check with British gas what the initial meter reading was when you moved in 6 months ago. Make sure they have the correct numbers. This is usually the reason.

We are paying about £50-60 per month for Gas (not including elec). We have the heating on for water for 2 hours every 2 days which is enough for our showers and the washing up.

In the winter months we'd only have the heating on when necessary and most of the time just put extra layers on.

I feel we are getting ripped off big time........ I will check out this energywatch etc.
