Advice needed re eBay & Paypal

I sold an item on ebay, buyer has left postitive feedback & now a chargeback has been done either by the buyer or their bank.

Paypal has put a hold on the funds & I have supplied all information they have requested by email so far, they are now asking me to fax a copy of the proof of posting, showing buyers address to them on an 0870 number. How much does it cost to fax to an 0870 number?

Just trying to work out if it's worth me following this up as I only received £3.69 minus pp fee or do I just write it off.

Tell them you haven't got access to a fax machine.

0870 national rate numbers approx 10p a min from a bt line

did you send it recorded delivery? if so there is proof its been delivered. and if its not as described the seller should send you the item back

I have had to do this before, i don't have a fax so had to go to a shop and it cost about 2.00. The trouble was after 2 weeks of me continually emailing them they then said they had never received the fax even though i had the fax confirmation and had to then re-send. They eventually received it. Then it took another 4 days for them to give me back my money.
Just think of al lthe money they put on hold somewhere they accumulate all the interest over time and then when they have made enough they give it back. I still can't believe they can just dip their fingers into peoples paypal accounts and place holds on the money whenever they feel like it!

I don't have access to a fax machine anyway, just through my pc via my landline.

No just normal 2nd class post, if it's the buyer why did they leave positive feedback, I just assumed it was their bank. Think it's one to write off & next time only give the option for recorded delivery!

Yes it is rather annoying, especially as they have left me postive feedback, def one to write off if it's going to cost me £2 to send the fax. Thanks for info.

lyzzys321 - why dont you give paypal a call and speak to them. I know it will cost to call them. When you speak to a human they seem to sort out issues quicker in your favour - just my experience!

My last experience of calling an 0870 number cost me £4 so I think I'll give it a miss, if it was for more money then I probably would.

Anyone know how paypal works with owing them? I withdrew my whole balance before the chargeback & then had another small amount go in but I am currently -£2.24 showing will they be able to take it from my credit card or bank account? First time I logged in after the chargeback it asked me to add funds but I haven't so far!

There is no dispute recorded, it just shows in my account activity as

Type - temporary hold
Name/Email/Phone - Paypal
Status - Placed

The email I received says -
We were recently notified that a payment you received was reversed by the buyer’s bank. A bank reversal can be requested by the bank itself or the bank account holder.

So no dispute to query as the buyer/buyers bank has reversed the payment, the buyer has not logged a dispute with paypal.

Paypal have today reversed the transaction so I am now out of pocket.

Is there anything else I can do?

I feel like sending off an email to the buyer anyone got any advice on what I should say?
