Advice Needed! Sold a item on amazon marketplace in November, buyer now saying sold as faulty!

Hey guys, happy new year.

I sold a Nokia n97 on amazon in early November, and the buyer has emailed me today to say it needs a new screen and it was sold as faulty.

I have emailed the buyer referring him to nokia directly for after sales support, and said I can assure him that the phone was sold as described, Im just wondering if anyone has had any issues with amazon, do they always side with buyers, and if the buyer does make a claim what do you think I should do, I must have the right to offer a repair through nokia first?

Thanks guys.

Refer them onto Nokia... Its not your problem - the phone should have manufacturers guarantee. Furthermore, they purchased it from you in November, it is now January... Damage was most likely caused by their own wrongdoing! ;-)

Yep I think so too. I just hope he doesnt make a dispute cause I dont want amazon to rule in his favour (if they are anything like paypal I should be worried)

If you explain the situation to amazon, they should use their common sense and decide in your favour. Amazon customer service have always been great when I have dealt with them albeit not about marketplace.

As others have said, a month plus with it and now he decides it does not work. Trying it on for a refund due to the Xmas spend or better phone as gift.

IMO you should contact Amazon and explain before he gets his warped sorry in as fact.

Did you sell it as used? Some buyers expect Amazon sellers to be … Did you sell it as used? Some buyers expect Amazon sellers to be professional businesses and expect to receive the same consumer rights as buying from a shop. The item should be fit for purpose and should last longer than a month!

Yes sold it as 'Used - Very Good'

At the end of the day he purchased the phone at the very start of November, so two months later he is saying it was sold as faulty.

I have referred him to Nokia Consumer Care, and assured him the phone was sold in working order.
