advice on buying kitchen appliances

I'm looking for a washing machine and a free standing fridge freezer. budget of around £700 so nothing too fancy.
Is there anything I need to watch out for in terms of brands etc...
Washing machine wise i've been looking at the LG direct drive ones...

Bosch offer the best value if you ask me. Not the cheapest but certainly well engineered though not as expensive as others.

Whenever Which magazine review "white goods" Bosch usually come out near the top (Miele do as well but they are SOOOO expensive).

You pay a little bit more for a Bosch, but it will last you longer than a "cheaper" brand so will pay for itself over time.

I have a Bosch freezer and Dishwasher and they have worked for years with no problem.

Maybe go to your local library and look at the old copies of Which (all libraries have them)

With all white goods you will get people who swear by one brand and others who had that brand and it fell apart after a day. Bosch generally do have a good reputation, as do Miele as mentioned.

I saw a Bosch washing machine advertised on TV, was around £400 in a sale for under £300 I think.

I have a Hotpoint Fridge Freezer that has absolutely dire reviews that I never noticed until after I bought it. Not had a single issue with it in the 3 years I've had it.
