Looks good, maybe just upgrade the battery to the 9 cell.

Cheers mate - I cant as unfortunately its from the dell outlet but it will mostly be used at home so probably less of an issue. I just wasnt sure if the price was good for the specs ... i can probably get a 15.4' 2.0 GHz for about the same price without the RAID drives but guessing opting for the 17' for home use is better

if its for your wife... and if she doesn't want a desktop but a laptop, i'm pretty sure the weight factor will play a big part...
so personally i would avoid looking at 17" or even some 15.4" and get a lighter model...

but then again, you know ur woman the best

One last question - I also came across the system set out below which also seems great value for the specs. Any thoughts?

Just remember, outlet laptops go in seconds sometimes. I'm no real help with the specs etc, but you need to do your research into what you want and what price etc and when one pops up that fits snap it up as soon as you can!

I finally ended up getting the following system. The extra GHZ and cache will def come in handy. Ideally the hard drive would have been a bit faster but given savings I guess it will have to do.
