Advice on external Hard drive

Found 16th Oct 2009
Hi guys,

I have a sumvision dvd/divx player with sd slot and usb input. I can run movies etc from the sd and memory stick to watch on tv so was wandering can I go out and buy an external hard drive and use that via the usb port or do I need to buy a specific type of external hard drive?

Thanx

buy the biggest drive you can afford... you will soon file it up
nothing special is needed just a usb hard drive.

Thanx guys,

You'll probably have to format the drive to FAT32 for it to be recognised.

Also, if you were to partition the drive, it's more than likely only the first partition would be seen by the player.

It also has to have its own power source ( Just in case you didnt know)

i expect it will take ext3 and ntfs but u may find there are limits such as read/write via the media player.
ignore fat32 that would be bad due to the file size limits you may have issues putting that 9GB rip Blade on it!

That one is a portable (small) drive so would be USB powered and would not have it's own power supply.

£5 more would get you this 500gb one - it's bigger (physically & in gb) and comes with power supply.
