    Advice on parking in Southampton

Hello everyone I am getting married in August. We are going for a cruise for the honeymoon on the 25 th September for 2 weeks( i am petrified of flying). We live in the north east anyone any ideas of cheapest method of getting there and any cheap places to park in Southampton any advice would be appreciated

You could get a cross-country train which used to be direct from Newcastle but I think now you have to change at Birmingham, they usually have special offers for advance off-peak travel (although it might be too early to look at those yet). You'd probably have to travel down on the Thursday depending on when your cruise departs.

I'm not sure about parking for that length of time, do the cruise operators not have a discounted carpark? Another option could be to drive down and park in a small railway station like Shawford or Botley which doesn't charge for parking, then get the train into southampton...

I would THINK very carefully about leaving you car at either of those … I would THINK very carefully about leaving you car at either of those stations for that long. Unmanned, secluded, no cctv, I would be suprised if your car is there when you get back. Botley has had loads of issues in the past.......................

Sorry I didn't know that. just searched southwesttrains.co.uk for the nearest free car parks. I use Rowlands Castle myself but that's a bit further out...
