Advice on speeding up Samsung Galaxy S3 please.

My Galaxy S3 is starting to become abit sluggish. So I have invested in a class 10 32GB SD card to use in it to replace my 8gb one, in the hope of speeding it up.
Also decided to remove all the rubbish off it, such as unused apps, movies etc.

Would like to know if there are any other things I could do to speed it up? I have thought about rooting it (but not sure how and why this might speed it up).

    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Root it, flash Cyanogen mod and remove touchwiz. Thats about the only way of making a dent

i have a s3 mini , would this speed mine up?

Download ccleaner it worked for my android phone

Clean it up as above, but also instead of flashing, try an alternative launcher like Nova Launcher. It's far faster and if you don't like it you can switch back easily, not something you can do of you flash it.

factory reset still left me rooted to my surprise.
How would i undo rooting on the S3.

The easiest thing you can do is factory reset, always good to do after changing android versions, 4.1 to 4.3 is a big jump so a factory rest could help. Other options are as mentioned above, a different launcher, Google Experience Launcher is good. Or Root and use App Quarantine to disable some of the Samsung junk.Yeah if you also want to break half the features of your phone, brilliant suggestion.

    Break the features? Such as?

Flash it with the Samsung rom.

roms are getting better - i would recommend liquid smooth rather than cm11

Must have liked your phone better, I ran various CM11 roms with no real success.

Fortunately I had a proximity sensor problem and the phone went to a Samsung repair centre who put original firmware back on. The phones really smooth again and everything works as it should. There are too many bugs in custom roms.

I got a s3 that became very slow. I found it was warm in my pocket and the battery would not last very long. I tried a cleaner app but that only dose what can be done manually very easily so is a waste of time, and another app running which may slow things up. The answer was to factory reset phone. I was shocked how quick it was as I think you forget over time. I just never noticed it slowing down over the first year I owned phone. I also try not to uninstall apps as I worry they leave code behind now so I think long and hard before I install anything. I think people should consider a factory reset every 12 months as I'm sure many phone problems would be solved.

Thanks for all the response. I have done all the usual things, removing unused apps, deleting videos etc. Ccleaner is great! Thanks for that. But still my RAM usage is too high so I think as afew have said the best thing is to flash it. Will also check out Google Lanucher.

    Thanks again.
