    Advice please

    Hi,

We are thinking of going on holiday somewhere between the start of november and the middle of december.
Egypt seems to be coming up quite a bit but we have never been before.
Which parts of egypt are best to be able to visit all the sights?
    Can anyone recommend a hotel?

Mexico is another option, can anyone recommend anywhere? or any other country as long as its warm.

    Thanks

    thanks DLM

El Gouna is the nicest place I've visited in Egypt (and probably anywhere in Europe).

Going Egypt for 1st time on Friday, booked Hilton Sharks Bay because I thought it would guarantee a good holiday but lots of recent repots of people getting ill in the resort (more than ususal).

Before you choose Egypt watch last weeks episode of ' an idiot abroad'. The place looks a siht hole. If I'd booked then seen the program I'd be gutted.

    Thailand would be my recommendation!

I don't know many people who've been to Egypt but the few who have, all had stomach problems their entire holiday. Good way to lose weight though ready for Christmas.

Go to El Gouna, im sure you wouldnt think its a hole! OP personally I have always stayed in El Gouna or Hurghada because I go diving but from there you could easily fly or take a coach to the pyramids (coach not advisable!). Personally I have been to Egypt a few times now and have never been ill, its just a case of taking the right procautions before and during your stay.
The hotel that we have used a few times and one I would recommend is the Hilton long beach Hurghada, its a beautiful hotel.

Really enjoyed Egypt but when we went it was a bit scary in terms of a high alert regarding terrorist threats. Seven day cruise starting in Luxor with a coach return on the 8th day to a lovely Hotel Mercury Etap (or something like that) for another 7 days. Took in all the sites by doing this rather than just staying in one place.

    Is it a family holiday?
If not, we have just got back from Madeira and we absolutely loved it! Everyone was telling us it was for old people but we went anyway (I'm 35 and my fiancee is 30). It was the best holiday I've had in a long time. Around 25-28 degrees (so not to hot but hot enough) and loads to do around the Funchal area.
Pretty cheap as well - we stayed in the five star CS Madeira and Spa which is right on the ocean front. Highly recommended!
