Advice please about company refunding for returned item that I still have

Found 30th Nov 2009
Evening all.

Long story but I have seen similar stories on here people so was hoping some people could offer some advice regardiing the law on this?

I ordered a separate fridge and freezer (so 2 units) from a catalogue company, which were delivered over a month ago.
They arrived but then I decided to buy an American style fridge/freezer instead so asked the catalogue to take them back.
They came about 4 weeks ago but only had paperwork for the freezer so they wouldn't take the fridge.
I phoned the company again and they said they would contact me regarding collection.
I have chased them numerous times, the last time I phoned them - about 2 weeks ago - they said that they have it on their records that the freezer has already been returned and they have credited my account.
I told them that I still had the fridge and they said they would phone me back but they never did.
They have already credited the refund for the fridge to my Mum's catalogue account on 28/10/09.
I don't want to the fridge and it is in my way - my American style one is due on Thursday so I will have 3 fridges in my kitchen with my old one as well, but I don't know where I stand if I sell the fridge and the catalogue people come back to me?
Do they have a time limit on which I have to 'look after' the item for them before it belongs to me? I am sure I read something like this before

Thank you x

if there saying they have recieved it and refunded you then id sell it on, this happened to me with a sofa i ordered, i ordered 2 and they sent one the wrong colour so sent it back and they refunded me for both sofas then i ordered another and the arms were different colour so sent them back to exchange for right colour but they refunded me for the whole sofa so i basically got the sofa for free lol

Its nothing amazing, but I could hopefully get £175 for it, which I could do with right now anyway, just wondered what are the chances of them coming back to me and how long they have to do that?
My mum still has the credit account with them so I am worried they might just charge her one day.

I have had that happen to me - can't say I would admit to telling them I hadn't got them though

I ordered the True Blood book set a couple of weeks ago and my Mum just happened to find them by the bin, no note through the door or anything

op. take a copy of your statement and show the balance if they come back say you have had it back and you have the proof of refund. First though id give them a set time and date to collect, that way you're doing it by the book.

I don't know how to play it, should I bring it to their attention AGAIN?

Whenever I phone them they can't give me a date for collection - they have to get on to the courier company who in turn contact me
