ADVICE: Want to sell PETER BROOK original oil painting

23
Found 11th May 2011
Hi,

I have a customer who wants to sell their original Peter Brook oil painting.

It was valued at £5500 about a year before he died and I have been told that the price would have gone up.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

you have dead customers?
So wait a minute, they've asked you who doesn't know anything about how to do it and instead of looking for information in an art gallery you're asking on HUKD?

This won't end well.

I have had some cracking advice in the strangest of places, the few Art Galleries I have tried have been as useful as a chocolate kettle. Thought it was worth a try!

I did google and find that site along with a few others, however it looked very amateurish like someone had put the site together in their bedroom in 10 minutes. If they were really in the league of selling Peter Brook artworks I would have though a little investment in their websie would do them a world of good.
How about auction houses i.e. Sotheby’s, Bonhams etc?

And that stopped you spending 10 minutes on the phone to them when they might offer a rather nice sum?

They seem to go for a pretty penny, how about a fine art auction specialist like here:

They have sold some of his paintings before.

Or if you live anywhere near Huddersfield:

Very good point, first impressions are important, but sometimes should be overlooked. I will call them, thanks.

Nah, no good for the OP. the website looks like it has been knocked together in 10 seconds by a 5 year old, and does not use CSS or look professional like the BBC website.

How did you know, you got the face perfect!
Oh wait!
The dog in the picture doesn't have a collar in mine!
on a serious note I have a very good friend who owns a art gallery in Yorkshire who would be able to give you some advice and prices , I would recommend him as I have spent a few thousand on art work from him, mostly Mackenzie Thorpe and a Steve Johnston, if you want a link to the gallery give us a shout

You seem to be very eagle eyed, To the untrained eye this seems to be genuine, but as you have rightly noticed the collar has been added later
