I need one of these which is decent! I used one and they are bit carp and break easily (link below)!

As when it did work the signal was not that good!

    Any help apprecaited!

You will always lose signal by using that type of splitter, better off getting a powered one, Argos, Maplins etc.

Will they be better? I have used one before where you screw in the aerial wire on one side and get two outputs on the other which has been fine but cant find one like that! Plus its mains powered and have loads of plugs as it is! But do they make a difference?

Depends entirely on your signal quality, you can over-boost it and cause signal attenuation. Generally the powered ones are better, but I'd suggest a specialist retailer; the Argos ones tend to be overpriced tat.

What you really want for the best results is a powered masthead amp, but that requires fiddling with your aerial.

Also to minimise signal loss you probably want to look out for ones with f-type (en.wikipedia.org/wik…tor) connectors rather than the usual - en.wikipedia.org/wik…ket

Just want a straight foward job!! As its another room and the aerial has been fed through that room (been split), was alright with one but now two one signal is bit weak!

Ahh dont overcomplicate to confuse the guy

The splitters you've used generally will degrade the signal, so if you are finding they are not working then a powered signal booster will be better. The Argos ones are OK for mainstream use, as most signal requirements these days are for digital reception (which requires less signal) the main problem is from the aerial itself. But each time you split the signal, it will degrade, also distance from the aerial is a factor.

Argos one is here and I use em and had no problem (and yes they are slightly overpriced, but handy and quick), B&Q sometimes do them cheaper ;-)

Might not be possible, like I said depends on your signal quality. It will only get worse the more you split it, and you can't boost what's not there. You need to boost the signal as early in the chain as possible otherwise all you're doing is amplifying the ****.

I'd suggest borrowing a regular signal booster if you can (there are a few here: maplin.co.uk/Sea…742), if that doesn't work then you may have to start playing with the aerial to get a good signal.

Its only been split once and the signal was good until I did it again, its the connecters which are the problem as when I connect them both seperate (TV and PlayTV) they are good! As the splitter only has a carp thin wire which connects all of them, so know that is the problem! Dont have which I can borrow.

May try the Argos ones and see if they do the job as only need two outputs from it! I done all the wiring so its all set up, just need to get a decent splitter, as made the cables myself as my getting the connecters and some decent wire!

Don't suppose you live near Derby? There's a place there that sells this sort of thing much cheaper than Maplins/Argos etc.

No, (W Yorkshire), may go back to the local shop where I got the connecter from, if not Argos as costs about £9!
