Airline - Passport and Flight Tickets Do Not Match Up

I wondered if anyone has experienced this issue recently.

    For example:
My tickets are booked as Alex Smith, but my passport says Alexander Smith. All my other ID's e.g. driving licence, credit cards etc are Alex Smith.

Will I have an issue flying out to America as the ticket is booked with a shortened first name?

Might want to check with your airline - see link below for others experiences

The guys at US passport control have no sense of humour!!! Check now, they can be very picky. . .

    Yes, you have a problem.

    when do you fly

Wen my gf went to egypt it said on her ticket... "Mrs"
    Which she isnt...
Nothing was said about it. But i would ring ur travel agent or who ever ur flying with and ask them for their oppinion (:

But that's Egypt. The US is a whole different story, you can't afford to get even the smallest thing wrong with those boys. . .

You must make sure you get everything right for those boys, even if someone in US immigration agrees its ok get it in writing because they are so bureaucratic.
My friend lives in the US and every time we go he warns me not to be funny with the officials. Last time a US immigration bloke went berserk when I cleaned the fingerprint glass before sticking my thumb or finger on it, you should have heard the commotion he caused X)

    USA wont let you fly

Should be find they're not as bad as everyone makes out. I told them … Should be find they're not as bad as everyone makes out. I told them their security for internal flights was stupid because I went through much less security in new zealand to get into the country anyway and the guy just laughed and said tell me about it.

Pity extra tight measures are not in place for on the way out.

What name have you done your ESTA in?

Please tell me your not the 49ers Quarterback?

On a serious note, I would change it if I were you.

You are ok with prefix titles, ir MR, MRS, MISS etc, however full first names and surnames need to be correct.

I would contact the airline and ask for their confirmation.

Which airline you flying with ?

Different passport and ticketing nameThe name on my ticket is not the … Different passport and ticketing nameThe name on my ticket is not the same as the name on my passport? For security reasons it is absolutely essential that the name on your booking, ticket and passport are exactly the same. If not you will be unable to board the flight. This also applies to marriage or maiden names; we can no longer allow passengers to travel by accepting marriage certificates or decree absolutes in conjunction with a passport.Your booking and ticket must reflect your first and last names only. Middle names are not required. If a mistake has been made you can amend the name on your booking and ticket to reflect the correct spelling in your passport, up to 2 hours before the flight is due to depart. However you cannot transfer the ticket to another person. To amend the name on your ticket please contact your travel agent, tour operator or our contact centre here. There will be a charge of £30 to amend each name.

Just make sure to sort it before you go.
