Aldi, refusing to honour terms of warranty

Posted 29th Nov 2007
I bought a low value item, a £10 hot air gun, from Aldi in 2005. In its operating booklet it stipulated a three year warranty. I havent used it for more than two hours but when I tried it a few days ago it made a pop sound and expired. I still had the receipt with the booklet so on a recent grocery shopping trip to Aldi I presented this item, the warranty and the receipt but was surprised to be flatly told that the shop would not consider honouring it.

Are Aldi within their rights to do this? As I said, it is a low value item but I am concerned that if Aldi can dishonour a warranty on this item then presumably any shop could dishonour the warranty on any item no matter have expensive.

Any suggestions?
