Just found out that all tesco branch numbers (previously 0845) are now Standard Rate phone numbers starting with 0345.

To find your local ring head office 0800 505555 and they will give you the your locals standard rate number 0345 phone number.

Edit: SORRY! I use the term standard rate and free phone (due to free calls from landline) interchangeably

0345 is local rate. Not free

Perhaps the OP may wish to change the misleading heading on this thread..
ooh lets all find lots of reasons to ring branches of Tesco now for the sake of it - NOT
Calls to 03 numbers are charged at the same rate as calling an 01 or 02 number and count towards inclusive allowances on landlines and mobiles.

If charged, it's "geographic rate" not "local rate".

For many callers, these calls are "inclusive". They are never "free".
This is good news. Also, I notice most of their customer service numbers are now freephone with an 03 alternative.
The Tesco website is now fully updated with the new 0345 numbers for Tesco stores:

tesco.com/sto…DON
We are heading towards greater simplification of phone tariffs. With a few exceptions, it will not be long before the picture is:

01, 02, 03 - calls charged at "Geographic Rate" or inclusive within call plan allowance.

071 to 075 and 077 to 079 - calls charged at "Mobile Rate" or inclusive within call plan allowance.

080 - calls are free (including from all mobile phones by 26 June 2015)

084, 087, 090, 091, 098 - calls incur a Service Charge to the benefit of the called party and a standard Access Charge to the benefit of the caller's phone provider.

In an ideal world, "Geographic Rate", "Mobile Rate" and the non-geographic "Access Charge" will all be set at the same, or at least very similar, price levels.
