Virgin Media do their version...much better service with loads of 'On Demand' tv.

You can buy freeview PVRs, that will give you all of the SKY+ recording functions, for use on the freeview channels.

Or there's the new Freesat service, which is a satellite-fed Freeview box.

I have a bt vision box which records tv programmes just like skyplus, I paid £30 for it but if you have broadband and change to bt broadband then the bt vision box is free at the moment - bargain!!!!

I have a BT Vision Box - relegated to bedroom broadband connection as it is the worst box I have ever operated.

It is nowhere close to Sky+, nor the Humax or Topfield Freeview recorders. Mine was free in the end but I still felt ripped off!!

there's also the topuptv box which is similar (if slightly more buggy!) to the toppy and the hummy....you get a months free TUTV as well but you don't need to subscribe to get the box. The toppy is the most "tweakable" although the hummy is probably the best "out the box" experience...
