    Alternative to SKY

    Peeps

Can people advise me as to what alternatives i can look at as i am fed up with Sky and its costs for crap on the box.

Therefore any suggestions would be great. I cannot get Virgin as i live out in the sticks.

Was thinking of FreeSat or something else but i dont know much about them. Or a motorised dish and box??? But then again no idea.

    Thanks in advance.

DVDs & similar pre-recorded media formats, either purchased outright or as a loan from a video lending library or a retailer specialising in rental sales.

Get a dreambox and motorised dish.

Freesat will give you most of the Freeview channels. The Humax costs just over £200 now so is a bargain. You can use your present dish and don't need to do anything to it as long as you have 2 feeds coming from it......or you can cancel sky subscription and use that box as a recorder with Freesat channels for £10 a month. You won't get Fiver, Virgin 1 Quest and a couple of other channels but you will get others that are not on Freeview, so its pretty even Stevens. Hope this helps.

What if he wants to watch the news or a live sporting event or the latest soaps? How's he going to do that on DVDs rented from a shop?

when my half price sky deal ends im going to get freesat, about 200 for a harddrive humax box and free for life! uses your original sky box aswell, though channel listings suck, the free-ness of it is brilliant!

Yes you need 2 feeds (wires) coming from your dish into the Humax. Best get a quad LNB fitted at same time so if you want channels in another room you only need more wire. I have an Octo LNB fitted (takes 8 feeds) as I have it in 2 rooms and may be getting it another room soon. Reason for all the wires is because you need one feed for each tuner so you can watch 2 progs at same time and/or watch one and record another.

The Humax is such a good price just now, you're lucky as I paid £300!
