    16 Sheets...

    1 Sheet = 0.052437 m^2

    16 Sheets = 0.838992 m^2

    21,660,475 Households x 16 = 346,567,600 Sheets!

    = 18,172,965 m^2!

    = 2472 Football Pitches!

    346,567,600 Sheets / 8333 Sheets to a Tree = 41,590 Trees!

400 Trees per acre in the Amazon Rainforest, so 104 Acres = 420,763 m^2 = 57 Football Pitches!

    0.002m thick, therefore total height = 43,321m high = 43km = 4.9 Mount Everests!

    A waste?

I worked out myself, so please inform me if I'm wrong.

Was there not someway to do it online?

You can do it online, but it tells you that on the actual paper they send out.

Keeps the postmen going. I have to complete two. One for home and work.

What a waste and I did mine on line, if only they'd asked!!!

You're such a nerd. And I approve of this massively.

They should have just emailed us all....saved a fortune and saved the planet.....

Whats the deal with that? Ive got two places, home and where I work. Do I need to fill both out?

Well, its A4, so 16 sheets is 0.99792m^2 by my calculation (easiest to say 1) (not sure why you are using m^3), but I reckon you probably get over slightly more sheets per tree on average, say 20-25. Still though, its a lot of paper.

Thank you. Not sure why I had volume dimensions!

So what's the most effective way of surveyng the UK population, reaching every household and maximising responses?
    ????? ....????
So that allsorts of info is gathered to optimise services and allocate funding.
    ???
BTW - hardwood trees, as per rainforest wouldn't be used for paper, they would be used for furniture etc.
renewable conifers are used for paper.

Well I save a tree not buying Bog Roll.

    It pays to recycle

They wanted to reach every household, so e-mailing would've defeated the purpose.

Indeed, they would've got most of Nigeria if they sent emails out...

    big brother creeping in

could have just been recycled paper no?

still an impressive stat to work out though

What they should have done is to send every household a letter asking them to do the survey online, but have a section to request a copy of the questionnaire for anyone without the internet.

Why use so much paper when many people would have done the questionnaire online! More money down the drain

Really fancy paper if they are importing wood from the Amazon!?! oO

That makes no sense at all.

    Seriously, think about it.

I have just completed them both. Bleeding nightmare as I spend over 30 nights away from home, as does my other half and the kids. Very easy to complete the other as the person lives with a support worker (me or 2 others) and doesnt work so not much to complete for him. Must take some sorting out. I wonder how many dont bother completing them.
