Don't understand Amazon I placed an order last week for an external hard drive £53 and a spindle of cd's £5. Both arrived on same day cd's were delivered by courier and HD was delivered by Royal Mail?

Did you buy them from Amazon or a seller on Amazon? They're different things.. they probably have more than one warehouse too!

Perhaps one of them was from a second tier supplier (think they call them prefered seller) not direct from Amazon

They have contracts with different carriers for certain things. Also, it's most likely come from 2 different warehouses as well as they have a few. We have 1 here but they only hold certain things.

shanecr had a camera (expensive, £200 or so) come by first class post, if i remember rightly.

While Amazon are one web site behind the scenes it is NOT one company or one distribution centre.

I ordered a number of things for this Christmas (all from Amazon, not a second supplier) and they came in THREE different boxes from 3 different couriers and appeared as three different bills on my credit card.

In fact it is rather clever of Amazon to APPEAR like one company, but behind the scenes they are not.

If you think about the amount of stuff Amazon themselves seller it just wouldn't be economical having one GINORMOUS warehouse, you couldn't find a thing!

As for the different couriers, I don't know about that, maybe one was from an offshore island which the courier doesn't deliver from?

You can tick a box saying group my items together and they usually come in one box
