Amazon CheckMend / NMPR Question

So not sure if anyone knows much about this but here goes. Amazon are showing this message next to many electricals they sell "Please note that devices dispatched from and sold by Amazon are automatically registered on CheckMend and the National Mobile Property Register (NMPR)."

What would this mean for me?? Does this mean Amazon register me as the owner with my address and details?? Also, what if I see something down the road - do I need to unregister myself??

Can't seem to find much online about this so hopefully someone here knows a little more??

Thanks a lot!!

Isn't this normal for mobiles and televisions bought in this country ? Are you looking to buy a burner phone ?
