Amazon Frequent Returns Email

36
Found 5th Oct 2014
Hi. Earlier this year I had lots of bad luck with items from Amazon and ended up returning a lot. In July they sent me an email about my frequent returns.

Does this mean they could ban me if I return anything else??

The email read:

Your Account details have been forwarded to me for a review of your order activity. A careful review of your account reflects that you've ordered with us a number of times, but that your orders are frequently returned or refunded.

Through the normal course of business, the occasional problem is inevitable. We do appreciate that items may occasionally be delayed, damaged in transit, or unsuitable for their intended purposes and in these instances, returns may be required. If there is a problem delivering post to a specific address, you may wish to specify an alternative.

However, we have noticed that the volume of refunds on your account is unusually high. When this type of activity comes to our attention, it is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We value your custom and want to work with you to resolve any issues you might be experiencing with our service, so that we can ensure future orders arrive without incident.

In most cases like this, we can identify the problems and improve the situation for the customer. However, in some instances we conclude that additional action or account closure is necessary, as our policies prohibit placing an order for any reason other than a genuine attempt to purchase the merchandise.

Failure to comply with our policies may result in the removal of both your Amazon.co.uk buying and selling privileges.

If you received this message in error or would like to clarify the order activity, please contact us directly at cis@amazon.co.uk.

Thank you for your attention to this email.

Regards,

Account Specialist

Thanks

I have returned loads to amazon in the past, including several televisions. Maybe I will get one of those emails soon. Not too bothered and you shouldn't be either. Amazon are not the cheapest out there anymore and apart from the odd blu ray and my prime television, I seem to be going elsewhere for my buys.
Black Friday is coming up, but don't worry, the items on there will be cheaper several weeks later anyway, unless you want the one direction signed CD or Susan Boyles Christmas hits greatest Hits
I think if you were more specific in your reasons for your returns you could avoid this problem . For instance ,ordering 4 things but only intending to buy one if its the right size ,right colour , you like it /not etc will not wash with Amazon (its not a Catalogue !) . However If you have returned the items as faulty or not fit for purpose then I should send them a strongly worded email stating the items you returned were not fit for purpose as you already stated in the returns documentation .

If you have a legitimate reason for returning items then you have no need to worry.

If you are returning things just because you have changed your mind, then they could close your account.

Amazon Account Specialist won't care why you return them, but the fact that you are.

So I can never return anything to them ever again?!

I have opened a new account, but when the email was sent, it was sent to all members of my household.

What do you mean by this? What 'bad luck' did you have?
They will close all accounts at the same address or use the same IP address , plenty of threads on the interwebnet about it

What I mean though, is can I not return anything ever again judging by that email?!

Bearing in mind I've bought lots of items since, and I need to return something now (first time since July), do you think it's likely they'll take action if I do request a refund?

Im not to sure about this topic, but i can only assume that you can return items (of course you can), just make sure you make your reason clear for returning such items, and make it sound genuine, (i never leave the reason for returning the box blank) , and i am also assuming your account is under 'surveillance' for now, perhaps let it cool off a bit, and then you may come off the list.
( i have absolutely no past experience in this, but one can only assume, as businesses go..)
I think I've only ever returned one item from them from about 50 - how can you return so much?
I brought around 500 items from amazon costing around 10k and I returned about 20-30 of them.

No email yet, am using amazon prime paid so they might just leave me alone since am paying £79 for their services.

That's about 6% return rate - doubt that would be an issue. Also based on your volume of sales. I would still be interested to hear why the op has been returning all of the items. How many, and why has yet to be clarified.

There was a thread i read that someone used a different name/address to try and open a new account it was closed , they put it down to the IP address , as was using same computer at same address as the closed account.

Most people (and by that I mean the vast majority) will have a dynamic IP address so using the IP as an absolute positive indicator is flawed.

Also, IF Amazon were to do this based on IP Address you would then stop anyone on that IP from buying a product, so any guests to the house who use the Wi-Fi wouldn't be able to make a purchase.

The comment you mention just now was probably more to do with the person using the same billing address or some sort of conflicting information which flagged up something in their system.

Why don't you e-mail and ask them? With that e-mail they provided.

Also, there is a huge thread on this topic which is updated regularly, you should have a read here. There are numerous other threads on the internet too.
yes i got this email from them some years back and i told them that if they ever made an unfounded allegation again such as this that i would sue them

That's the problem. Even if you made a new account you're probably still at risk. You can carry on returning things but if you continue being a bit excessive, there's a chance all accounts in your household will be banned and any connected to them.

Because he can. It's a no questions asked system. You can buy something, not like it, and return it. I guess people can get carried away with it.

Check OPs ASK threads out

frequently buys things, asks if they are any good after buying, then returns it if not.
