Amazon item price changing every few minutes!?

Howdy!

So I currently have an item in my ‘Saved for later’ list. I submitted a few ‘Have you found this cheaper?’ forms as Id found the item for a little less at Argos/Shopto. Now I checked it around 8am and the price was as it was yesterday, But I went back on to purchase something else around 30/40 minutes later and noticed it had dropped by a few pennies! And has consistently done so every 5/10 minutes.

Its now about £1.50 less than it was yesterday.. is this normal practice by Amazon? I assume they will stop once it matches competitor prices - if a little under. I don’t get why its being gradually done as opposed to just outright amending the price. Maybe to catch sales at the ‘current’ but changing price?

Amazon pricing algorithm does seem bizarre at times, but not unusual for frequent small movements to occur.
