Amazon Lightning Deals -Should Amazon be prosecuted under the Trades description Act ?

I always have a look at the Amazon so called "Lightning deals" and I'm sorry ,its the same old "Tat" rolled out again and again - never a deal in sight . Now I notice more and more "Prime exclusive " deals for the same "Tat" .

Obviously those who signed up for "Amazon prime" were mugs of the first order , but surely even they can now see that Amazon are really taking the mickey . Rope a Dope or what- or is it just me ?

Dude, who cares. If people can't be bothered to do their own research or they think the deal is good leave them be.

No company as big as amazon offers such customer service which is second to none.

I love amazon and if every company took a leaf out of their book retail would be a much better place.

But if they were a High street store a "deal" would have to be supported by it being sold at that price for 14 days at one of their branches . I know the fiddles which make that pointless.

Amazon quote RRPs which stuff has never been sold at anywhere and mugs fall for it oO . Yes I accept the customer service is good -but surely even the most ardent Amazon fanboys and fangirls must now realise that Amazon are laughing at them whilst gleefully taking folks money .

Sadly I have had nothing to review for over a year - their prices just don't stack up - unless of course you have bought into them by buying "Prime" - to be honest that doesn't work out great , just look at "Prime" prices for say batteries and the non prime prices for the same items.

Fair enough - and you find them cheaper on Amazon? Golf Bag I was looking at today from Cgd Golf £82.99 on EBay £93.99 on Amazon - same seller (OK it would be Amazon Market seller but everything I look at is the same - better deal elsewhere) Yet folks pay £75 a year to get it delivered yesterday!- cant folks wait a couple of days oO

They should be prosecuted for selling this tat on a lightning deal for £115.35. Money down the drain!

if it's tat, shouldn't bother you that it's exclusive. exclusive buyers clubs have been around for years - achica, secret holidays, that facebook group I buy dodgy backy off

Search on google and you'll find that even their regular price of £182.92 is cheaper than everyone else. £115 was a genuine deal, a steal for what's on offer (14 kg shipping weight according to the item description).

£416 at Waterstones

Same goes for Currys etc. who have a high price for few weeks then put it back to it's original sale and call it a special offer. I wouldn't sleep over it.

PS. Amazon rocks!

Perhaps op you should check out camelcamelcamel.... You can see the history of Amazon prices.

When you have, you might think it is a genuine deal.

Additionally, as already mentioned, a quick Internet search shows that even £182 was a bargain! It is far more expensive elsewhere.

I buy 80% of my things from Amazon. I do so after comparing with other sites.

I get next day delivery.

I have access to 15000 films and shows, which I can watch away from wifi.

As a comparison, Netflix costs (I believe £7.50 per month.)

I have access to over 1 million tracks, available offline.

I have a free Kindle book each month to borrow.

I get great service. Recent example, my faulty 14 month old out of warranty phone was refunded immediately and without question. £255.

BTW £79 per year, not £75.

I am a mug.

Very happy being one too!

Couldn't resist the challenge. It only took one minute....

"Tell me one item today or in the last week on Lightning deals that hasn't had a grossly inflated RRP and was in fact a deal ?"

WORX Aerocart WG050

Normal Amazon price £136.59
Lightning deal price £83.99

Argos price £134.99
Homebase £147

£51 saving seems like a good Lightning deal to me.

9 X 5* and 4* reviews, quite alright if one's a fan as it is 3000 pages, and it is 10 hardback books. I would have thought at least £12 per hardback = £120 and it is a bit of a nice gift or collectors' item for loyal fans.
.
Gosh, that was really a HOT deal

It went quick, all taken within the prime early acess slot.

just wait til Black Friday week, when all the sheeple pay their £79 to be first in line to buy a load of tat that even a charity shop wouldn't take.

In the interest and spirit of helping others..... you may not be aware, but if you don't like Amazon, you don't have to buy from them..... there are (apparently,) other retailers!

I've been told (not sure if it is true,) that if you don't open their web pages, their offers don't even assault your eyes, and insult your intelligence!!

I have Prime membership. Are you calling me a mug?

I don't buy a yearly subscription but I have bought it for 1 month a few times this year. The Amazon TV and the quick delivery more than makes up for the £7.99 price.

I've also bought my washing powder in bulk and a few other items from the pantry because it worked out cheaper and I didn't have to travel to pick up the items and wait in a queue for them.

Amazon Video pales in comparison to Netflix.

I don't think I've actually bought anything in the last two years from Amazon's Black Friday Lightning deals. Prime day was brilliant for deals though, hopefully the next one will be just as a good.

Just watch out for those price hikes in your basket where Amazon are trying to make the price look better than it actually is.

I have and watch both.

However, Netflix only offers video, and it cannot be downloaded.

They both have their advantages.

For £75/Year you're getting the following.

Amazon prime video
amazon prime music
Amazon next day delivery (free)
Amazon cloud storage
Amazon kindle lending library
amazon pantry
Amazon prime now (same day shopping delivery)

As you've called everyone who uses them a mug a few times and only quoted about Amazon being a rip off and delivery. I question if you know much about their service or you're just on an uneducated rant.

I have fell for the so called lightning deals and seen the price go down further.
Just a clever tactic to get people to buy quickly.

You really shouldn't use the word "trolling " unless you really understand the evil of that word , I suggest you don't . Having a go at a multinational corporation (who are more than capable of looking after themselves) is not "Trolling " - Having a persistent disgusting go at vulnerable individuals is "Trolling" . Until you can tell the difference I suggest you remove your comment . Many vulnerable individuals have committed self harm ,even suicide because of "Trolling" I would suggest you have the decency to choose your terms better in the future ! Amazon are fair game for criticism and that is certainly not Trolling .

If you are happy with it ,that's fine . But be honest how much overpriced Tat have you ordered just because its "Free next day delivery " ? then realised you have overpaid for it ? be honest ! That's Amazon's marketing model . Fair enough their customer service is great - to be fair its the only reason I may ever buy from them .

Funny you keep harping on, but amazon quite literally price match any other website on the internet!

also ive lost count (actually done it twice this week) the amount of items that if they reduce the price after ive bought it, within 28 days, a quick chat with them and they refund you diffrence!
