Amazon price reduced after purchase?

Was under the impression that they would refund the difference if it's within 7 days; I've had things refunded in the past.

Was on their help chat last night and the member of staff stated that it's not amazon policy and has never been; it's purely at their discretion.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Did I just have a dodgy rep?

if you say you'll return previous item and rebuy, they normally do the refund of the difference because it costs them more to process the refund normally.

I'd try asking again. You should get a different person on the other end, see what they say?

Yea it's still in stock; the price reduction isn't really worth ordering and sending the item back tbh, was just trying my luck at an instant partial refund.

bought a item before xmas @ £311 (not eligible for any promo) - a few days ago it went to £187 (and eligible for promo) taking it down to 147!.

I just returned and re-ordered!

I usually do that; but for this item it's not really worth the hassle.

No idea why people are downvoting you for that.

If you returning after you opened it, then you may have to pay postage.

Otherwise you have 14 days .

Sometimes it not worth it! if it not much.

Just try again and you'll get another agent. Most will offer the difference if you say you are going to return and re-order elsewhere.

that'll be why then.. small value they know you'll just keep

the one time i tried this, I was told no and was told to return (paying almost £6 for the privilege) and re-order.
this policy seems hit-and-miss and definitely not set in stone

If you pre-order and the price goes down before delivery then you get it at the cheaper price. Maybe this is what you have seen.

Nope, I've ordered things before and the price has dropped a day or two later; they've refunded the difference.

I had a mattress for 3 weeks and noticed the price had dropped so took a chance and phoned. I got an instant discount. It depends who you speak to, I would try again.

If the price had gone up, would you pay the extra?

Stay on topic please. This is about a reduction in price.

Thanks.

Ring up 15 minutes before customer service closes for the night. They will do anything from my experience just to go home.

Works with Ebay anyway for getting defects removed from your account if the buyer gives you low stars
