amazon surge pricing

last night I found something I needed on Amazon, I thought I'll order in the morning, when I did it had gone up £2.50, question is can Amazon re-sellers see when someone views there items ala eBay?

Yes

Dunno, but have had that a few times on amazon, also ao.com does it, albeit by about £50 on both sites....

Seems to happen all the the time to me with items directly from Amazon.

I wanted to buy ethernet switch the other day. £50 new or £46 warehouse. Now £60 new and none left in the warehouse. Typically the price increased before Amazon's BIGTHANK promotion. Incidentally I tried to still order an item a few minutes before the promo was up, the code did not work. It must have expired early. Amazon refused to help and talk down to me - nothing new, their customer service is rather poor is my experience.

Sometimes price goes up automatically when a certain amount of stock is left. I doubt they increase the price due to more views.

This might sound daft, but I tend to use a tablet for browsing but then make purchases using pc. I've been advised to clear cookies- apparently this reduces hiked pricing... Best of luck with future purchases

exactly what I did, albeit unintentionally

a tad cheeky

prices change all the time, keep watching and it will drop again.

damn you! why did you make me look?

bought it earlier and now gone down a quid X)

Do what my wife does, add it to basket and wait for the message saying the price of an item in your basket has come down. Works great, I have about 600 items in my basket I have to save for later every time I want to buy something. Items like bikes for a 5 year old when my youngest is 9, and she tells me I never clean up after myself.

Just put stuff you are interested in in your Wish list . You will see it goes up and down 20-30% often in minutes . Strike when you feel the iron is hot enough .

That's nothing. An item I was (am) following before Xmas jumped up to over 10 times it's price! Grrr...

It depends if they were running a campaign with the item, if so, you can see how many people looked at it over various time scales.

Just in the process of shutting down my Amazon shop, people would rather pay £1 less, wait 6 weeks for delivery from China, and risk the item being a poorly made copy.

questioned with the seller and they just said prices change all the time and cancelled my order

bought from someone else for close to original price

Doesn't happen for me - I often procrastinate when I want to get something so I just add it to my wish list and come back later.

Track the price on camelcamelcamel and wait for the price to drop

Amazon's BIGTHANK promotion the prices go up just before stock run out and go higher after they get in more stock.
Bought 3 games cost me only £41.47. Sometime the prices go up and down for no reason but they always stay roughly the same amount.
