Amsterdam hotel for 6 people

Can anyone reccommend a decent but not too expensive hotel for 6 people? As close to Dam Square as possible so everything is mainly within walking distance and we can take trams to the tourist attractions. Budget is about £250 per person for the 3 nights. Thanks

Its actually better to do the opposite, stay out near the Leidseplein and use the trams to get to Dam Square Its a very short tram ride and you will get a much better hotel for your money out that way. Its still a vibrant busy place with bars and cafes (Hard Rock is there) and is also close to some great tourist attractions. I've stayed at that end of town twice at the NH Amsterdam Centre hotel, its really nice but not sure what price it would be, really depends on your travel dates. Have a great time!

Thank you

I was looking recently and a few people recommended a 5 star hostel called The Bulldog. Hope this helps.

I went from the 21st - 25th Jan. Stayed at Sloterdijk which is 1 station before Centraal when coming from the airport. About 6mins on the train to the centre and a 3 day train pass sets you back €20 and the price was a lot better then staying close to centre. The place I stayed was Amsterdam ApartHotel. For 4 people Comes with kitchen 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms and a living room and worked out at £400 for 4 people for 4 nights.

What dates are you going?? do 'secret hotels' where they don't tell you the name of the hotels and it's up to 30% cheaper. And with just 2 minutes work it's pretty simple to work out which hotels the secret ones are

Prices can vary enormously from month to month for a good located hotel.
If you go at a cheap time you can get nice 4 star double room for about £100 a night. Sometimes 5 star for not much more.
Other times you will struggle to get a decent 3 star for £150

Usually if we go during expensive period we tend to stay at the Ibis stopera, its clean and decent and you know what your getting - alot of the other 3 stars are the very old style and are dingy.
Its away from all the crazyness but still walking distance (no trams needed) which suits perfectly.

botel I'd best you will get for that money and includes breakfast everyday

I've stayed at the Tulip Inn right by the grasshopper & that is a perfect location for central Amsterdam. Similar to a Travelodge size room with modern bathroom. We had 3 to a room & averaged £45 a night. With the weaker £ to Euro prices may differ. Was June 2015 when I stayed there.

St Christopher Inn.....

stayed at the Frisco inn last time I was there it's right next to dam sq and right behind warmestraat perfect central location

im too looking for bargain on hotel for april. needs to be near the train station. the station is the centre of the dam apperently (its our first time). if anyone has got any advice or tips, and where to go for hotel for good price thatll be great please
