An idea for loved ones far away.

My son and his girlfriend are in Rottnest Island, off Perth, Australia so will be away for Christmas. Thought about sending presents but put off by the postage. Googled shops on Rottnest Island and emailed the local store. Have just placed an order for wine, beer, Jack Daniels, cake, chocolates, nibbles, candy canes etc and they are delivering it free of charge on Christmas eve. So pleased that they will have a gift from home as well as a deposit in their bank. Just an idea that others might like to use. Happy Christmas everybody

Meant people could do the same to stores near their loved ones!

I bet if you skyed them on Christmas morning that would be a great surprise and present.

Very simple. The present of their loved ones.

Unfortunately there is no WiFi where they are but we have arranged a pre Christmas Skype x Do it as often as we can

Ah never mind, could you not book them into a nice restaurant where they are for their Christmas Dinner. I know my sister did this for family that came from Australia to England it was their 40th wedding anniversary. They did not go to Scotland this time as my sister lives there so she looked online for a nice restaurant near their hotel and paid for the meal by card after they had finished the meal. Or you could put money into their bank to do the whole Christ mas meal thing.

I used to buy dvd's from Australia (ezydvd etc) so had the brainwave of using a company like amazon to deliver presents with free delivery to there saving on postage here. Only amazons aussie site is carp, nothing on it. Wouldnt be too hard to find a suitable retailer offering free delivery there tho

We've put money in their bank too. They have to work for four hours on Christmas day (60 dollars an hour!) then are on the beach with friends and workmates for a BBQ party paid for by their workplace.
