Android 6.0 SD card on Asus Zenpad 300M - help needed to setup SDcard?

HI Guys,

Just bought one and its all setup, but I can't get the SD card to work.

No matter what I do, I cant transfer any files to it.

I have activated developer and usb bugging to be allowed.

Apart from that, the card shows up on the tablet, but cant do anything much further.

I did get a message saying I need to activate it to work or something like that!

Anyone know what buttons to press to get it to work. Oh it it wont format in the tablet either.

The card is new and taken from another tablet, I cleared and formatted it on that tablet before I suck it in the Zenpad.

Any ideas or help

Weird. Usually when you put a sd card in a tablet it instantly recognises it and lets you use it. Have you tried apps like es file Explorer to see if you can move stuff around?

Try another card before you drive yourself mad. It may just be faulty.

Format the SD card to Fat32, takes less than 20 seconds to do. youtube.com/wat…d-o

I thought that, the card comes up and all that, but stick it on the pc and card shows up, put anything on and nothing.

Put the card in another tablet and works fine.

Got to do something about this tablet as it says you need to press a few buttons to allow this tablet to use the card. problems is I don't know how too.

I spend 4 hours on it yesterday after buying it in the afternoon from currys.

Try going to the card and format in the tablet.

Android 6 uses adoptive storage. Once the storage card is "adopted" it will merge into "normal" memory and show as one big lump. Once the card has been adopted it cannot be used in any other device without reformatting as Android encrypts the card. This means that all apps and data can be placed onto the card etc unlike the restrictions from the previous OS versions.

Well, I had the card in a lenovo tablet. I cleared it and formatted it before I stuck it in the Asus. On the new tablet the storage reads like this.

Internal 6.58gb used as I stuck some movies for the wee one.

Portable storage SD card 96.00kb used of 62.48 GB.

If I click on it, it has one folder lost.dir and then press settings, it gives a choice of eject or format only..

Clicked format it say this requires the SD card to be formatted.

Pressed erase and format and stops at 20% and posted a quick message about command 27 partion disk .......

Anyway it won't format.

If I plug to PC can't even drag anything into the SD card.

It won't do it.

Just need to figure out how to get the tablet to accept the card to drag files as it sees the card and confirms it's size and model.

A right pain it's been to try to get it to work.

As it was 100% works in the other tablets

Did you even bother trying to format it to Fat32?

Fat32 is next on the list as I had to find the card adapter, so I can plug into my laptop. I will update as I go along.

Never had a tablet sd card problem before, totally thrown me

Ok managed to format it in fat 32 and put the card into the tablet but no luck still wont let me use the card, something about permission or set up to allow to use the sd card.

Drving me mad!

Tried format in exfat, ntfs and fat32.

Anyone know anything about setting up the tablet to allow a sd card to be used? Never come across this before

Right then, went through it all and not had any luck at all. I am now going to buy a cheaper small card to test the slot incase there might be a fault.

Totally baffled by this, that nothing works!
